My classmate James sent me a link to this CNN story recently. I’ll warn you now: it’s a punch to the gut.
Photographer Brian Cassey captured the lives of some of Hong Kong’s “cage people” who live in densely packed cages hidden inside high rise buildings. It’s one step above being homeless. Cassey describes the sense of “resigned but controlled despair” but also of the residents’ remarkable dignity and grace.
The next time I feel sorry for myself I will think of these people and reconsider my whining. I am so fortunate and blessed.
